Israeli NY Startup Helps You Stop Smoking with a Cheshbon

Somatix, a New York startup founded by Israelis, has developed SmokeBeat, a monitor that taps into smartwatch and smartband sensors to identify and distinguish smoking from other hand-to-mouth gestures.

The information gleaned is used by the company’s SERF (Social, Emotional, Rational and Financial) motivation engine to deliver personalized CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy) incentives to cease the unhealthy habit.

When SmokeBeat senses that a person is about to smoke, it issues a warning to desist. It also calculates how much money and time the habit is wasting.
