An Israeli special forces officer was killed and another was moderately wounded during a night-time operation in the Gaza Strip on Sunday, the army said, Judah Ari Gross reports for Times of Israel.  The incident sparked intense clashes between the Israeli military and the Hamas terror group.

At least seven Palestinians were killed in the firefight and airstrikes that followed the Israeli raid, including a senior Hamas commander, according to Palestinian officials. The Palestinian fatalities were said by Hamas to be its members.

Israeli officials later indicated that the incident was an intelligence gathering operation that went wrong.

An IDF soldier from an elite unit was killed on Sunday night during an operation in the Gaza Strip.

The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said in a statement, “During IDF special forces’ operational activity in Gaza, an exchange of fire broke out, during which an IDF officer was killed and an additional IDF officer was moderately injured.” The statement called on residents of the Gaza envelope to listen to the instructions in their communities and obey the instructions issued by the Home Front Command.

Arutz Sheva reports that the incident occurred during an IDF operation three kilometers deep inside the Gaza Strip. The force entered Gaza in a civilian car, apparently in order to eliminate or kidnap Nur Barakeh, commander of the eastern battalion of Hamas’ Izz Al-Din Al-Qassam Brigades in Khan Yunis. According to reports from Gaza, due to a complication in the operation, exchanges of fire broke out between the terrorists and the Israeli forces, during which the Israel Air Force attacked in Gaza and killed at least seven Hamas terrorists.

The special force of the IDF was able to leave Gaza and, contrary to rumors that circulated at the time, no soldier was kidnapped. Following the incident, Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu cut short his visit to Paris and is now making his way to Israel.

On Sunday evening, sirens were heard in the Gaza envelope. According to the IDF, at least 10 rockets fired from the Gaza Strip exploded in open areas or were intercepted by the Iron Dome system.

  1. It’s an obvious message from Hashem to the Israeli government and especially to minister Liberman that Hashem is not happy with the forceful Yeshiva boys draft to the IDF of Pure Schmad. It’s also time the Zionists left alone the Bnai Torah in the Holy Land

But…. the sad part is that Chazal teach us that:
רשעים אפילו על פתחו של גיהנם אינם חוזרין בתשובה
so NOTHING is going to change

    • R’ Yochanan said: Since the Bais Hamikdash was destroyed, prophecy has been taken from prophets and given to fools and children.

      I assume you’re not a child, so therefore…

  2. No other country would endanger their soldiers and have them physically walk into the lion’s den to fetch terrorists, they’d all shoot from the top or army tanks.

    • What do you know about secret military operations?
do you know about every operation of the US navy seals?
Besides this, if this operation would have went well – just like hundreds of other operations that you don’t know of, none of us would have ever known of it.

Millions of Jews in Eretz Yisroel – including me, owe very much to those selfless heroic soldiers who endanger their lives for the safety of their fellow Jewish brothers and sisters.

This anonymous fighter lost his life on the highest level of Kidush Hashem.

    • You obviously know NOTHING about military operations.

You are just spewing your hatred of Jewish soldiers.

Do you even live in Israel?
