Many were disgusted by a publicly funded TV show where kids were shown photos of Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani and Chief Rabbi Rav Yitzchak Yosef in clerical garb and asked whether they could identify who was who. This followed a recent program that made fun of tefillin.

In response, Druze Minister of Communications Ayoob Kara sent a sharp letter to Gil Omer, chairman of the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation.

“Recently, there have been a number of incidents where Israel’s major broadcasting stations felt they had the right to denigrate kodshei Yisrael,” he wrote. “As the person appointed to regulate Israeli media, I am disgusted at these discriminatory incidents. It is inconceivable that specifically in a Jewish state, holy items are denigrated and Israeli rabbis are compared to our greatest enemies.

“I hereby inform you that I intend to make it legally prohibited for all Israeli stations and the Israel Broadcasting Corporation to denigrate national and religious symbols as I announced last week in the Knesset plenum. This will put a halt to stations that allow their desire for high ratings to cross the bounds of good taste and journalistic ethics.”

  1. What is a real shame is the fact that Israeli, presumably Jewish kids did not recognize the Jewish leaders. Their parents and the Israel Education system are to be blamed for this. Zionism strikes again!!!

  2. I am not saying that this is not disrespectful. But the vicious terrorists do indeed look like sages.
