A high-ranking official in Israel announced this morning that the country is willing to allow the entry of numerous trailers and large vehicles into the Gaza Strip to assist in clearing the debris, but only if Hamas agrees to release six living hostages by Shabbos.
Kan News reported that government ministers have been briefed on the situation, with the likelihood of this plan being executed seen as reasonable. However, the final decision hinges on Hamas honoring the agreement.
The official further explained that Hamas has expressed interest in freeing six hostages by Shabbos in order to facilitate the release of 47 prisoners. These 47 individuals were previously freed as part of a deal to secure the release of IDF soldier Gilad Shalit but were later reincarcerated. Hamas is reportedly concerned that any delay in the hostage release could hinder their chances of securing the prisoners’ release.
To date, the Prime Minister has withheld permission for the entry of the trailers and heavy machinery, using it as a leverage to intensify pressure on Hamas.
Meanwhile, a high-ranking Hamas member told Ynet news that there is a “high chance” the group will release six living hostages on Shabbos.
The unnamed official stated, “There are negotiations and it depends on the price Israel will pay.”
“The demands at the moment are that Israel agrees to enter talks for the second phase [of the hostage deal] and give guarantees on the humanitarian issues, allowing in mobile homes and heavy [construction] equipment,” the official continued.

What a dumb thing to agree to? Giving these murderers heavy equipment???? To do what with?????
sometimes I wonder if these “Yidden” have actually lost their minds!
They should provide them with heavy machinery with brakes that stop working 2 or three days into their sojourn in Gaza. Have engines that spontaneously explode and kill the drivers. have shovels that lift and come crashing down when a load is placed on them.
