Israel Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai will resign from his position, as revealed by National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir in and announcement today.
Ben-Gvir acknowledged the ongoing disagreement between them, stating in a brief video that “it is widely known that our perspectives have not always aligned.”
He also praised Shabtai as a remarkable and devoted public servant of Israel.
It is apparent that Ben-Gvir had previously made the decision not to extend Shabtai’s term for an additional year due to their conflicting views on the minister’s attempts to enhance his authority over the police force.
