Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner will be flying aboard Air Force One to Saudi Arabia with President Donald Trump on Friday, after receiving a rabbinical dispensation to travel on the Jewish Sabbath, according to a White House official.
As practicing Orthodox Jews, Trump’s daughter and son-in-law typically observe hilchos Shabbos. But they have made exceptions, on a few occasions, for their jobs.
On Inauguration Day, they received the same kind of rabbinical pass to travel by car.
During the 2016 campaign, Kushner also broke Shabbos during the worst crisis to engulf Trump. He huddled with his father-in-law in Trump Tower after the release of the damaging “Access Hollywood” tape in October of 2016.
Trump’s first stop on his nine-day, five-country tour will be Saudi Arabia, a leg of the trip that Kushner has been deeply involved in organizing. Read more at POLITICO.

If the US has so much clout, Trump should have been able to schedule this on different days.
don’t know who his Rabbi is, seems quite maykil to me.
Just because someone claims that he got a dispensation does not mean he used it.
Just because it is reported in Politico doesn’t mean it is true.
Leaving that aside, what is the halachah about traveling on a ship that leaves port on Erev Shabbos? See Mishna Berurah Siman Reish Mem Ches (248)
And why are you YENTES, already becoming the biggest poiskim?
People should think twice before posting negative comments. You could be violating Loshon Horah, Motzei Shem Rah, etc.
well – if his father in law opens the door for him… and caries his bags…
A position of this importance is way, way above my pay grade. I can’t question or second-guess their priorities or their rabbi’s psak.
A concern that may affect the rest of us is that, for all the years that we’ve been telling our employers that we absolutely cannot work on the Sabbath, they may take this as a counter-example.
