Ivanka Trump broke with her father on Thursday and said she does not think the media are the “enemy of the people.”
The White House adviser said she’s seen stories about herself in the press that weren’t completely accurate, but still differed with the president, who has stepped up his attacks on the press.
“I’ve received my fair share of reporting on me personally that I know not to be fully accurate, so I’ve had some sensitivity around why people have concerns and gripe, especially when they sort of feel targeted,” the president’s eldest daughter said during an Axios event. “But no, I do not feel that the media is the enemy of the people.”

Good for her. One of the key ingredients in repressive governments and dictatorships is not allowing a free press and attacking news they don’t like as “lies”. While I’m generally happy that President Trump won the 2016 election, I hate the way he demonizes the press and dismisses any news he doesn’t like as fake. CNN, the NYTimes and many other news outlets are ridiculously biased (and always have been), yet previous presidents Reagan and Bush never resorted to this type of over-the-top attack.
Hey 6:17, try to understand that nazi and communist publications were not government controlled until 1933 and 1917 respectively. So according to you, it would be wrong to criticize Der Sturmer in 1932?! Besides, can’t you comprehend that President Trump also has 1st amendment rights, and he has a right to criticize whomever he wishes, no matter how much little liberal-fascists like you would like to shut him up.
What most people don’t realize is that the White House press corps is supposed to report the news, not make it. Reports are supposed to report not state their personal opinions. Jim Acosta tries hard to become the story, not just report it.
