White House senior adviser Ivanka Trump on Friday blasted the New York state probes into her father’s business practices as “harassment,” after The New York Times reported that she is under investigation as well.
The Times reports that officials have issued subpoenas to the Trump Organization for records about tax deductions on consulting fees, some of which appear to have been paid to Ivanka Trump, who “was an executive officer of the Trump companies that made the payments, meaning she appears to have been treated as a consultant while also working for the company.”
She tweeted on Friday in response to the report: “This is harassment pure and simple. This ‘inquiry’ by NYC democrats is 100% motivated by politics, publicity and rage. They know very well that there’s nothing here and that there was no tax benefit whatsoever. These politicians are simply ruthless.”
Ivanka Trump added in a second tweet, “This fishing expedition is very clearly part of a continued political vendetta,” linking to an article from the Times about New York Attorney General Letitia James and her investigations into the Trump family.
