After years of legal battles, this evening, the Planning Board of Jackson, NJ, formally gave its approval for the construction of three private schools in the 100-square-mile township that neighbors Lakewood.

It’s the first such approval since the banning of school construction about four years ago.

The approval was granted to two elementary schools and one high school, to be built on the tract of land off of Leesville Road.

According to site plans submitted to the Planning Board, the two elementary school buildings will each house 20 classrooms and will have a capacity of 600 students. The high school building will also house 20 classrooms, with a student capacity set at 255.

The unanimous vote was greeted positively by members of the frum community in Jackson who have been pining for mosdos to be constructed in their township. At the present time, thousands of children are bussed each day to nearby Lakewood.
