In response to the scathing New York Times report based on its investigation into the Chassidic school system, politicians have weighed in.

The NY Times now reports that two Democratic congressmen — Jerrold Nadler, the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, and Hakeem Jeffries, the chairman of the House Democratic Caucus — said they had serious concerns, with Mr. Nadler saying it was clear that “some of the Hasidic schools were utterly failing.”

“It is a paramount duty of government to make sure that all children — whether it’s those educated in parochial, private or public schools — are provided a quality education,” said Mr. Nadler, the senior Jewish member of the House, whose current district encompasses a major Chassidic neighborhood. “It is our duty to all New York students to ensure that the law is enforced.”

Mr. Jeffries, who represents parts of central Brooklyn, called for “a rigorous inquiry in order to make sure that the health and well-being of all children is protected.”

  1. Health and well being???? Chassidishe schools are doing much better than the parochial system of other religions and WAY ahead of public school. BH – we are doing well and are healthy maybe a bi too much sugar and choient..

  2. This character can say anything because no one is voting him out. Ditto Schumer. Does anyone know who is running against Schumer? His name is Joe Pinion, from Newsmax, who is a very, very articulate successful businessman. Can anyone pay attention to him for a change. Get off this dem wagon.

  3. After reading and listening to the pundits on both sides of the issue, the last few days, I really think people like Nadler, YAAFED, the NYT and their ilk are discussing apples and our side is discussing cucumbers. We aren’t even discussing the same issue. Look at Nadler’s comment “some of the Hasidic schools were utterly failing.” People like Nadler look at marks and test scores. They look at the arts, science, and sports, as a crucial part of a student’s success. But if you ask the leaders of the chasidishe schools they will say “we pass with flying colors.” They will say like the statement Satmar gave “Our school hasn’t produced even one murderer”(end quote) Our bottom line is that we produce ethical, moral, upstanding citizens They can take what they learn in our yeshivos and use it to pursue careers in any vocation they desire Satmar has shown with their business expo in June that their curriculum can produce some very successful entrepreneurs in all fields.

  4. Hahaha and its hilarious that the chassidim just voted for him again, only a couple of weeks ago.
    It really is funny.
Vote for democrats (and the free money) and this is what you get!

  5. True colors. Now Jerry (a yid) is throwing us under the bus as well. He’s throwing firewood in the flames as if the anti-semites don’t know he’s jewish too.

  6. “are provided a quality education” is a subjective term. Many today consider educating young children how to permanently damage their bodies an integral part of a quality education. Why not appoint Desantis to make this call?

  7. If some of “their” (Chassidic) schools are failing, then why is it that their graduates not only run big businesses, but are involved in running multi-million dollar companies? The reason is that most of them did not fail, and the critical thinking they learn in their studies is what they use all their lives to build their businesses. And for those few that did fail; well there are rotten apples in every bushel. At the same time, the public schools who they would like us to emulate should be genuinely ashamed of themselves for producing thieves, murderers, liars, and low life bums. Bums that burn down businesses, and kill on a daily basis. So Jerry, shut up and look around before you talk.

  8. They should please focus on drugs, murder, immorality, illiteracy and plus, in the public schoos abd then worry about the ” hasidic ” schools.

  9. The reports of the problem are greatly exaggerated, as expected from NYT that glorifies its anti-Jewish agenda more than honesty and truth.

The proposed solution is bizarre, and discriminatory.

  10. Everyone is missing the point….

The state has every right to insist that school *that they fund with millions of $$$* have to meet specific requirements.

You can tayna all you want that it is better ina yeshiva etc etc etc. you are probably right. So what?

The kesef comes if you follow the rules. If you don’t….no $$$

It is well established law that they cant force parents or schools to teach anything. See the Yoder v Wisconsin case. This is all about the money.

A Yeshiva that wants only limudei kodesh can do it. They just have to be willing to walk away from the state’s $$$.

  11. chas v’shalom that our system of education should ever be equivalent to that of the public school system. our students are to think, to question, to figure out how the world works, and how to correct misinformation or mistakes. half the public school systems learn non of the above and many cannot read english fluently by the time they reach high school

  12. Pretty disappointing for a college student to end up paying rent each month for a Chassidish landlord. That’s what really drives them nuts. You can’t blame their hatred.
