The Israel Central Bureau of Statistics reported that unprecedentedly, Jewish and Arab families have equalized with 3.13 children per family in both groups since last year. This is due to a drop in the size of Arab families and a growth in Jewish ones.

Fifteen years ago, the average Arab family had 4.3 children compared to only 2.6 for Jewish families. At the end of last year, Israel had 2.798 million children up to seventeen-years-old, constituting a third of the population.

The chareidi towns of Beit Shemesh, Bnei Brak and Yerushalayim had the largest families with 3.8, 3.4 and 3 children per family respectively.
