rush-limbaughSome have criticized radio talkshow host Rush Limbaugh for “borderline anti-Semitic comments” on his radio show, in which he raised the possibility that liberal Jews were having “buyer’s remorse” withPresident Obama in light of the outcome of the Senate election in Massachusetts. (See stories here, here and here.)

In response to the criticism, a large number of Jewish organizations have come out in defense of Mr. Limbaugh.

The following statement obtained by Matzav.com was issued by a number of national Jewish organizations, including Camera, Emunah Of America, Jinsa, National Council Of Young Israel, Religious Zionists Of America and Z-Street:

There has been controversy, recently, over statements made by radio talkshow host Rush Limbaugh about Jewish voting patterns, political ties and the recent Massachusetts election.  We are deeply dismayed by the unfounded criticism of the talk show commentator’s observations.

While one may agree or disagree with Mr. Limbaugh’s views on many subjects, his outspoken support for Israel has been eloquent, informed and undeniable. Moreover, in commentary on the Jewish people, he has been nothing short of a philo-Semite. We are grateful for his strong and singular voice on these issues.

  1. Have we nothing else to talk about other then lauding Rush Limbaugh ? Are there no other worthy things to talk about ? Does it bother anyone that Rabbonim are slandered day in & day out ?

Rush Limbaugh – sure, that’s going to bring the Ge’ula – tha’s what we need to focus on. Please get things in proper perspective here …….

  2. Ultra-Orthodox organizations should also
support Rush. His philosophy is good for the
country. It’s good for freedom of religion.

Just one last point: I am not endorsing
every single thing the guy says nor am I
suggesting that we should idolize him or
start listening to his program on a steady
    basis.

I am simply pointing out that this is
a matter of justice. Here’s a fellow who
constantly says good things about Jews and
Israel. Along come Abe Foxman trashing a
good guy in the name of Judaism. That’s not
    right.

So if you fellows are learning—keep
learning. But it’s good to know that if you
want to get the news you’ve got an
    alternative with Rush and other
    Conservatives. That’s very important for
a vibrant republic which values freedom of
speech and freedom of religion. We don’t
want a state-run media, Khas Veh Shalom.
They tried that in the Soviet Union and
    Germany. (It wasn’t nice.)

Let Foxman know how you feel.

  3. The Rush Limbaugh Show had a minimum weekly audience of 13.5 million listeners, making it the largest radio talk show audience in the United States. He is very influential in the world we live in, and if he is a good friend of Jews, he deserves our support

  4. RUSH IS A FREIND OF THE JEWS. HE IS VERY PRO ISRAEL. ALSO WITH A FOLLOWING IN THE MILLIONS IT DOES THE JEWISH PEOPLE A GREAT DISSERVICE TO DISS HIM. ABE FOXMAN IS AN AUSGEVEPT LIBERAL WHO SHOULD RETIRE. WHAT LIBERAL JEWS SHOULD DO IS WAKE UP AND SEE HOW OBAMA AND HIS CADRE OF ULTRA LEFT LIBERAL JEWS ARE TRYING TO CUT APART ISRAEL .

  5. rush limbaugh is NO ONE that the jewish community should look up to as a leader or as a friend. jsut because he says he likes israel and hates arabs does not make him anything we should be friending. he is a sick man

  6. Some of these comments show why it would be great if Matzav could run Rabbi Shmuel Bloom’s Yated column of a few weeks ago on the proper attitude to have in galus.
It would explain why proper and reasoned gratitude should be expressed and why this action was a good thing.
As a side thing, I can’t say I hold by him or would have my kids listen to him, but my gut feeling is that while he has his weaknesses, he’s very genuine with some good convictions, and nowhere near as arrogant as many talk show hosts.
