Jordan has confirmed that it held up granting Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu access to its airspace on Friday over a diplomatic row involving the Har Habayis.

Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman al-Safadi issued a rebuke of Netanyahu after a planned visit by Jordan’s Crown Prince Hussein to the site was canceled by Israeli authorities.

That led to Netanyahu having to rearrange his own travel plans on Friday when the premier was forced to once again cancel a planned visit to the UAE.

Asked by CNN to confirm if the diplomatic row was at the heart of Amman’s decision to block Netanyahu from temporarily using its airspace, al-Safadi did not demure.

“You renege on an agreement with Jordan, you disrupt a religious visit, you create conditions that made this religious visit on a holy occasion impossible and then you expect to come to Jordan and fly out of Jordan? Let’s be serious here,” Safadi told the US news channel.

According to Israeli public broadcaster Kan News, Jordan’s Prince Hussein bin Abdullah abruptly canceled his schedule to the Har Habayis on Wednesday due to a disagreement with Israeli authorities over his security service.

  1. Thae Jordanians are so stupid! Don’t they see how well – overly well – the Israelis are taking care of the Hat Habayis? In fact it is ours – our Kosel is right there below their mosque and we want the best for it! We want it safe and clean! We don’t need them altogether. It was stupid that we let them have it altogether back in 1967. An Arab is דאך an arab.
