Jordan’s government spokesman warned on Thursday of “catastrophic” repercussions if President-elect Donald Trump makes good on a campaign promise to move the U.S. Embassy in Israel to Yerushalayim, Kareen Laub reports for the AP.

Such a move could affect relations between the U.S. and regional allies, including Jordan, Information Minister Mohammed Momani told the AP.

An embassy move would be a “red line” for Jordan, would “inflame the Islamic and Arab streets” and serve as a “gift to extremists,” he said, adding that Jordan would use all possible political and diplomatic means to try and prevent such a decision.

  1. Well, the “inflammation” of the Islamic and Arab streets would primarily hurt the King of Jordan, who exercises very little control in his own country. His own deep love for the so- called Palestinian people is well known and documented, as were his father’s and grandfather’s, before him.
    If he is afraid, let him learn some crowd control and dealing with terrorists, maybe from the neighbor he habitually maligns.
    For others, the inflammation is easily curable with lead.

  2. Oh, by the way, I remember another Muslim leader speaking of red lines, before. What exactly came of it? Continued civil war in Syria. Jordan has plenty of sand to draw lines on, red or green. Have fun in your sandbox, Your Majesty.

  3. Dear Minister Monani;
    This may come as a shock to you, but we don’t care about your Arab street .
    By the way, how’s that “Arab spring” working out for you?

  4. What a joke. The Jordanians murdered the most Palestinians in history. They hate and despise them more than anyone else.
