Jordan plans to set up 55 cameras to monitor the plaza outside the Har Habayis on a 24-hour basis, a statement issued in Amman on Sunday said, reports HAARETZ.

The Jordanian cabinet minister in charge of the holy sites, Heyal Daoud, said the cameras being set up in the coming days would broadcast footage of the 144 square dunam complex around the globe over the Internet.

“The goal is to document the violations and infringements in the mosque complex by the Israeli authorities and present it to the world,” Daoud said.

  1. The cameras idea is worthy. Of course cameras should not be in Al Aqsa, the Golden Dome or the other enclosed prayer spaces on the 150,000 sq.m. trapezoid platform in the midst of the Old City.

But a truly independent team of people is needed to oversee the cameras and to adjudicate in the event of violations and/or problems on the Platform. This team needs to be headed by two people. One male/One female. (Think of them as elite trust builders and divinely mandated caretakers for the site. Like the two cherubim on the Ark of the Covenant.)

P.S. The site really is Crown Land that is reserved for a very special Crown. It must be a stable, ordered, benevolent and expansive place. If it is it will both attract and reflect divine blessings to the benefit of all. Two fair dinkum prophets as the caretakers. QED.
