Investigators believe Eion Klass, 33, pumped two bullets into Yoseph Robinson when the clerk tried to protect his kallah during a robbery last week.He was charged with first-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon, police said.

Klass served 11 years in state prison after a 1998 conviction for attempted murder and robbery, according to state records.

Detectives zeroed in on Klass, who lives in the Flatlands section of Brooklyn, after receiving a tip that the ex-con tried to rob the MB Vineyards liquor store in Midwood last Thursday.

Investigators unearthed a license plate for the suspect’s car and took him into custody early Tuesday, police said.

While questioning him for Robinson’s murder, cops charged him with a robbery committed elsewhere in Brooklyn on June 28, according to Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly.

Though Klass has not confessed to the killing, detectives believe the evidence against him is strong enough to warrant the murder charge, according to police sources.

Klass tried to flee the 70th Precinct in Brooklyn when he was briefly left alone in a holding cell Tuesday evening, Kelly said.

“The handcuffs were taken off him and he attempted to escape,” Kelly said. “He was taken back into custody and he suffered some scrapes and bruises.”

Kelly said Klass refused medical attention.

Robinson, 34, was talking to his new girlfriend Lahavah Wallace in the liquor store when a masked Klass burst in, police said.

When the gunman pointed his revolver at Wallace’s head, Robinson made a desperate lunge for the gun – only to be fatally shot.

The Jamaican-born Robinson left a hip-hop career and turned away from a troubled past to convert to Judaism eleven years ago.
