Kamala Harris Seriously Considering Running For CA Governor

Kamala Harris, the former Vice President, is seriously contemplating a bid for the governorship of California and has set a personal deadline to make her decision by the end of the summer. Despite holding a significant lead in early national polls for potential presidential hopefuls, Harris has been having frank conversations with her advisors in Washington about the hurdles of entering a primary race. This includes Chief of Staff Sheila Nix, along with senior advisors Kirsten Allen and Ike Irby. Key figures from her past, such as Brian Nelson, Minyon Moore, and former White House Chief of Staff Lorraine Voles, also continue to be integral to her inner circle.

In California, top political figures are awaiting Harris’ go-ahead to mobilize her campaign. Harris has instructed her team to remain flexible and has assured her supporters of her dedication to the political battle. “I am staying in this fight,” she has consistently emphasized during private conversations with her allies.

While Harris has not yet engaged in official discussions about running for governor, the very possibility has already begun to alter the dynamics of the 2026 race. California’s Attorney General Rob Bonta, once considered a likely candidate, has now announced his intention to seek reelection, citing Harris’ probable ability to dominate the field.

“I hope she does [run],” Bonta shared with Politico. “I have already raised my hand to endorse her, but I think only Kamala Harris knows the answer.”
