  1. “All fresh herbs, leaves and berries sold in kosher supermarkets that have KCL
hashgocho are not connected in any way to KCL’s supervision of that establishment.”
I’m confused, Are they giving supervision to an establishment that sells non-kosher items as well?

  2. Rather then share what should be obivious why doesn’t the KCL operate with more transparency? Talking about things that aren’t under their hashgoca is a feeble attempt at deflecting attention.

    • Without naming names, I can think of at least one establishment in lakewood where I have seen the non Jewish employers have access to and control of the raw meat with absolutely no oversight.

  3. Fresh herbs, spices, leafy vegetables ARE kosher. It’s the extra protein they often have that is not kosher.
That is PRECICELY why they are telling you that those proteins, although they are likely found on these types of otherwise kosher items, are NOT under their supervision, meaning they are NOT checked by the KCL.
It also seems they are providing a very important warning, that even such items bearing a hashgachah, should, AT TIMES, be considered not unchecked and should not be purchased unless the consumer is well versed in proper washing AND inspection techniques, and of course in bug recognition.

  4. Is the KCL drawing a difference between “supermarkets” and “restaurants” ??? If only supermarkets, then what is the hashgocha on ? Shmetia and maasros etc ??? PLEASE CLARIFY !!!!!

  5. How is a frum person even allowed to sell infested produce when they know some of them are impossible to clean? They knew they are directly causing people to transgress serious lavim. Why doesn’t KCL tell them to stop being machshil people?!?

  6. They’re saying a whole bunch of nothing here. The problem is that the girls’ schools are too busy teaching them things they have no business learning, things that are useless for them to know. Girls don’t need to know mefarshim on Tanach and aggadatos. They do need to learn the halachos of running a Jewish home, and that they aren’t adequately teaching. If the seminaries taught girls kashrus, including bedikas tolaim, statements like this would be unnecessary, as the girls would know how to check the produce and would have the common sense to know that these produce items need checking (lettuce, strawberries, herbs, etc.) I think the Satmar Rov, zt”l, was correct in that he understood that chinuch habonos involved teaching them practical things, and not intellectual matters in Tanach, mussar, machshava, etc. which should be learned by the men, but aren’t. I’m not sure why our daughters need to know Ramban when they can’t even shop for groceries a few years later competently.
