Please note when purchasing food items for Pesach that certified products are only kosher for Pesach when bearing the Pesach certification.

Matzav.com has been informed of a number of mixups that have led to people purchasing – and using – non-Pesach items on Pesach.

The need to purchase clearly labled items is nicely demonstrated with the Tropicana products seen above. Observe that the Kosher for Passover one has an “OK-P” and description in English and Hebrew for easy reading.

The second product is the regular OK-certified orange juice with the plain OK symbol – that one is not Kosher for Pesach.

Like, duh. People have to be told to check products for the proper Pesach hechsher?! Lazy good for nothing spoiled brats who don’t have basic “street smart” skills.

  2. I recognize that one can be strict and only buy Tropicana Orange Juice that was bottled under Kosher l’Pesach conditions, but how would that translate into the regular run not being Kosher l’Pesach?

In other words, it does not logically follow that there is an actual issue or concern.

Do Tropicana bottlers also process chametz on the same equipment?
Yes, I know, the hashgachos will always raise flags about what MIGHT happen, which is a great marketing technique for their businesses.
But, in the case of Tropicana, do they know of any bottling plant anywhere in the USA that bottles chametz on the same equipment?

      Yes. And why not?
(A halachic reason, please, with a halachic source. Not an emotional reason. Do you drink tap water on Pesach? You’re not worried that a bird dropped a crumb into the reservoir and made the whole reservoir chametzdik? Yes, I know there very well might be people who worry about such things, but their stringency doesn’t render the tap water not kosher for everyone else.)
