Dozens of kehillos in Petach Tikvah adopted a resolution of the town’s religious counsel to only patronize eateries and shops supervised by mashgichim not paid directly by the businesses they supervise.
For this purpose, the religious counsel publicized a tender for an independent company to take on the job of paying local mashgichim.
The state comptroller and chief rabbinate have condemned the rabbinate’s reliance on mashgichim paid by their employers.
