john-kerrySecretary of State John Kerry cut his summer vacation short today to deliver a powerful speech on Syria in the wake of the chemical attack that left hundreds dead.

“The meaning of this goes beyond the conflict in Syria … this is about the large-scale use of weapons that the world decided should never be used at all,” he began. Kerry said the horror of watching the suffering captured in videos of the attack is “hard to express in words” but should “never be ignored or forgotten.”

He confirmed that the Obama administration has proof that the Syrian government carried out the chemical attack and would be making an “informed decision” on how to respond in the next few days.

“Nothing today is more serious, and nothing is receiving more serious scrutiny,” he ended. Read more at The Wall Street Journal.
