The grave of Attorney General Avihai Mandelblit’s father was vandalized by an unknown group of hoodlums, Kikar Shabbos reported, with a heavy tool used to smash the tombstone.
The attorney general told police investigators that he had no idea why his father was targeted, but initial findings prove that it was intended because no other grave in the area was attacked.
Thte incident may be connected to the the investigations Mandelbit is leading against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Netanyahu was quick to condemn the violence.
“The prime minister is calling to investigate who desecrated the grave of the attorney general’s father. This is a shocking act that must be condemned, “the statement said.
President Reuven Rivlin also issued a statement denouncing the desecration of the father’s grave as “a disgusting act.”
