The kever of Rav Yerachmiel Gershon Edelstein zt”l, rov of Somiatz, Russia, has been found after years of fruitless searching.
The town cemetery was desecrated years ago and the location of the kever of the tzaddik was unknown.
Rav Edelstein was the father of Rav Tzvi Yehuda Edelstein zt”l and grandfather of rav Yaakov Edelstein, rov of Ramat Hasharon, ybl”c Rav Gershon Edelstein, rosh yeshiva of Ponovezh Yeshiva in Bnei Brak.
The kever was found thanks to the efforts of Rav Yisroel Meir Gabbai, who conducted a search for weeks. Just before he was about to give up, Rav Gabbai came across an ancient stone standing awkwardly. Rav Gabbai cleared the surrounding earth and uncovered the long-sought for kever.
