It’s a question that many have pondered. What would you do if bundles of cash fell from an armored truck and it was there for the taking?

Zev Goldstein and Coby Kamish were outside Fasman Yeshiva High School in Skokie on Thursday morning when it happened.

“It was so windy – literally, money was floating in the air!” Goldstein told WBBM/CBS 2. “There’s tons of money – hundreds of 20s just lying on the ground in this area that floated over the bushes.”

Kamish wondered where the money was coming from and the boys saw a man pocketing it.

There was a Bank of America ATM nearby and a third-party vendor somehow let money get out of the armored truck that was carrying it, according to the bank. The money started flying due to the wind while the ATM was in the process of being serviced.

The students recovered $790 and gave it to the police. “I thought the right thing was to give it back to the [people] that actually, it’s their money,” Kamish told CBS 2.

Police said they appreciated the boys’ honesty and willingness to give the money to them.
