King Charles extended an olive branch to Prince Harry by sharing a Father’s Day tribute featuring a photo of both his sons. The picture, taken at the Balmoral estate in Scotland in 1997, captures a moment when Prince William was 14 years old and Harry was 12.
According to royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams, the photo was intended to evoke mixed emotions and convey a sensitive message to Harry about loyalty. It also serves as a reminder to William of the once-close relationship the brothers shared and the precious family moments they experienced together.
This gesture comes shortly after the announcement that Meghan Markle’s Spotify podcast, Archetypes, will not be renewed for a second season. In a joint statement, the Sussexes and Spotify expressed mutual agreement to part ways, while Bill Simmons, Head of Podcast Innovation and Monetization at Spotify, criticized the couple in one of his own podcast episodes, referring to them as “grifters” and recounting an interaction with Harry about a podcast idea.
Fitzwilliams believes that the Balmoral photo symbolizes happier times between King Charles and his sons, suggesting that it signifies what truly matters and where Harry’s loyalties should lie. It also prompts William to reflect on the different dynamic that existed between him and Harry in the past, raising the question of whether they can rekindle their bond.
In recent years, there have been various issues between the Sussexes and the royal family. Harry and the King reportedly have limited communication due to Harry’s public criticisms of his family. However, they did reportedly communicate prior to the Coronation last month.
Since their departure from the Royal Family and relocation to California, Harry and Meghan have pursued various endeavors for income generation. These include Harry’s memoir, Spare, which he signed a reported £15 million ($20 million) deal with Penguin Books for, and their collaboration with Netflix for the docu-series, Harry And Meghan, which allegedly earned them around £77 million ($100 million). Additionally, Meghan’s Archetypes project had a reported £15 million ($20 million) deal with Spotify, though it did not meet the productivity benchmark for the full payout.
Despite the cancellation of Archetypes, Meghan plans to continue creating podcasts and find a new platform for her series.

Nice pair of trousers.
Charles was the son of Phillip who said in Aug 1988: ‘In the event that I am reincarnated, I would like to return as a deadly virus, to contribute something to solving overpopulation.’
