Armed with wooden poles, Kosel employees this week removed tens of thousands of kvitlach – handwritten notes, faxes and email printouts – from between the ancient stones. The Western Wall Heritage Foundation, which gives the Kosel such a face-lift twice a year – before Rosh Hashanah and before Pesach – oversaw the removal of the growing influx of kvitlach.
The laborers – working under the supervision of Kosel rov Rav Shmuel Rabinovich – take care to not read their content. The kvitlach are then taken to Har Hazeisim for burial.
May all the tefillos in the kvitlach be niskabel.
Wait for the world to turn and keep the prayer going around the world! A 360 degree rotation of planet earth with a prayer inserted into the wall is special. But they can not stay there forever!
