Israel’s Koriz Security Systems has developed security cameras, alarm systems and smart-home systems that involve no chillul Shabbos. They have the hechsher of Star-K headed by Rav Moshe Heineman and the Israeli-based Institute for Halacha and Technology headed by Rav Avrohom Moshe Halprin.

Company owner Mendi Koriz says that the breakthrough is the culmination of years of effort and investment.

  1. while calling them kosher, one must remember the teshuvot from last generation’s great poskim RMF ztl and RSZA ztl, who both allowed the “nonkosher” security cameras on Shabbat in letters to Rav Yisroel Rosen ztl published in Techumin decades ago.

  2. The Star-K’s shabbos friendly appliaces are “Tzomet” not Institute of Science and Halacha.
Rav Moshe Shternbuch, Tav Weiss, Rav Shlomo Miller all hold that if one uses these appliances they may be transgressing a “Di’oiraisah” R”L
