The Kremlin has stated that it lacks any information regarding the whereabouts of Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of the Wagner mercenary group, following his mutiny over the weekend. Additionally, they have no comment to make regarding the reports of a high-ranking general’s arrest on suspicions of assisting Prigozhin.

Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesman, informed reporters that he did not possess such information when questioned about Prigozhin’s location. The statements were reported by Interfax.

It was previously reported that the ruthless founder of Wagner had potentially sought refuge in Belarus after being effectively exiled there due to his armed rebellion. However, some sources have suggested that he may have returned to Russia for further “negotiations.”

On the other hand, General Sergei Surovikin, who is allegedly linked to having prior knowledge of the attempted insurrection and potentially providing support for it, has disappeared from public view. While there are unverified reports of Surovikin’s arrest, Peskov refrained from providing any comments and directed reporters to the Defense Ministry. He stated that he had nothing more to add on the topic and indicated that it was not within his authority to address a potential crackdown on security service members who may have supported Prigozhin’s mutiny.
