rav-shmuel-rabinovitchIn preparation for Rosh Hashanah, workers cleaned out millions of old kvittlach from the Kosel’s myriad cracks and holes, placed them in bags, and buried them on Har Hazeisim.

Rav Shmuel Rabinovich, rov of the Kosel, said that each collection, conducted every six months, has enough kvittlach to fill 100 shopping bags. Notes are placed in the Kosel by Jews and non-Jews from all over the world.

Kosel workers also insert hundreds of notes, which arrive at the rov’s office via fax or internet.
