School buses will show up Friday morning after all. A deal struck in the eleventh hour saved 37,500 Lakewood private school students from losing school transportation at least for now, Mayor Raymond Coles told the Asbury Park Press.

“The LSTA (Lakewood Student Transportation Authority) agreed to keep the buses running,” he said. “It’s a big relief knowing that kids will be able to get safely to school tomorrow.”

Although details remain murky, Coles said that a late-night call with Governor Phil Murphy’s chief of staff, George Helmy, helped avert the situation momentarily but that there are many issues that need to be solved in order to have a long-term solution. Read more at the Asbury Park Press.
