Lakewood Independence Day Fireworks Postponed to…September

Lakewood, NJ – Due to potential inclement weather, Lakewood Township has postponed the Township fireworks display scheduled for this evening, July 3. The fireworks will instead take place in September.

The fireworks display had been scheduled to be held tonight at Lake Carasaljo in honor of America’s birthday. The fireworks shoot through the sky each year as the Lakewood Municipal Band plays music in the Lake Carasaljo Amphitheater.

Thousands of people watch the fireworks each year, from the north and south sides of the lake, and police and fire department personnel stand by to ensure the safety of all residents.

The fireworks show this year was to be held on July 3 – and not on July 4 – simply because it makes sense financially. A fireworks show on July 4 could cost $20,000 or more, while a show on an earlier date allows the Township to save approximately $10,000.
