Lakewood Mayor Bob Singer and Rabbi Moshe Zev Weisberg, chairman of the Lakewood Development Corporation, will be hosting a press conference this Wednesday, December 16, at 2:00 p.m., in Conference Room C at the Lakewood Municipal Building to announce the 2009 Lakewood Economic Stimulus Package.During the press conference, Mayor Singer and Rabbi Weisberg will introduce a package of Lakewood programs designed to directly stimulate the local Lakewood economy. These programs will target small businesses that are struggling with the current economic challenges and Lakewood residents who are currently unemployed.
The stimulus package contains three elements:
1) an introduction of new and expanded low-interest loan programs;
2) a job creation grant to encourage the hiring of Lakewood unemployed; and
3) a cooperative advertising program that is designed to stimulate retail business by partially subsidizing small business advertizing.
The press conference will also include Patricia Komsa, executive director and coordinator of UEZ, Lakewood Development Corporation; Steven Reinman, director of economic development; Yehuda Abraham, LDC director of business development; and David N. Klein, director of small business services, LCSC (Lakewood Community Services Corporation).
