The Rubashkin asifas hodaah scheduled for tonight in Lakewood has been postponed for logistical reasons. Organizers are working on rescheduling the event for sometime next week.

Initial report:

L’chaims were made worldwide last night as Klal Yisrael celebrated the amazing news that President Trump had commuted R’ Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin’s sentence.

People gathered in the thousands in Monsey, Brooklyn and Crown Heights to greet R’ Sholom Mordechai and to witness the nes Chanukah in person. In Lakewood, hundreds of people danced in Seagull Square, eager to join in the simcha even if they could not be there in person. The unity shown by all of Klal Yisrael was truly a sight to behold.

For Lakewood residents who wish to continue partaking in this joyous occasion, R’ Sholom Mordechai will be arriving tonight to celebrate with the Lakewood community in person. Askanim have worked tirelessly and were able to rent out Lake Terrace Hall to host tonight’s event, which will take place at 8:30 tonight.

R’ Sholom Mordechai will be speaking, along with others.

Divrei chizuk will be delivered by Rav Aryeh Malkiel Kotler and Rav Yeruchem Olshin.

The event chairman will be Rabbi Pinchos Lipschutz.

Zemiros will be led by Shloime Daskal.

.בואו בהמוניכם לשמוח בשמחתו ולהודות לה’ על הנסים ועל הנפלאות מאת ה’ היתה זאת היא נפלאת בעינינו

  1. I hope the simcha continues with communities around the world joining together to give back to the Rubashkin family and provide for them the (financial) support that they need. Shalom Mordechai did a lot for klal yisrael, we owe them a huge debt…

  3. I think it’s a mistake that make big parties for a convicted felon. While I think his sentence was unjustified I also don’t think we can compare him to Mendel Beilis. I am happy for the man who I feel unjustly was sentenced to 27 years. But I don’t think he’s some sort of hero. 8 years is still a little too long, but it’s probably somewhere in the correct Ball Park. I am happy for the family that they reunited with their father and grandfather but I don’t think public celebrations are in order.

    • Not only should there be public celebration thereby making a huge kiddush Hashem berabim, but all Jews should be thanking Hashem privately too.

    • to 11:05 are you serious??? this deserves a major celebration this was clearly an antisemitic case and bH the government saw through it now. You are making a very uneducated statement. and besides don’t forget even if there were some violations that were lagit…are you perfect? what are your mistakes?? you do not know the entire picture..never judge anyone for the way you judge is how Hashem will chas vshalom judge you!!!
work on your ahavas yisroel and having an ayin tova and youll see every yid and every story through a different lense!! these are things we can all always work on…no one is perfect just important to remember and youll be able to be don lkaf zechus all the time. hatzlacha!

    • If you’re happy for the family. And you admit his sentence was exaggerated then you’ll be better off not hiccuping out your shallow and judgemental opinions… noones interested in hearing.

  4. I agree with Anonymous 11:05. Tremendous thought should be given before proceeding with this. Vehamavin yavin. No more needs to be said.

  5. Any person can be prosecuted by some obscure law which they never heard of. It was OK for OBama to pardon 100’s of Drug dealers but someone who was railroaded by this anti semitic judge deserves to sit a little less than 8 years. Shame on you Lakewood residence for even thinking this way.

  6. An Asifah is a TERRIBLE idea. Have people in Lakewood forgotten about certain arrests which made national news several months ago? Have they forgotten about the charges in those cases? Have they forgotten about the Asifas then? We should all be happy about the sentence commutation. But a celebration for someone convicted of the same general category of crimes that were the subject of those arrests several months ago?????. Somene with seichel should stop this plan immediately.
