A man who was taken for dead suddenly began having a heartbeat during the taharah, startling the chevrah kadisha in the city of Rishon L’Tzion, Kol Haolam reports.
An ambulance arrived and began examining the man, who was taken to a nearby hospital for observation. He was later declared dead again.
Officials said that the pulse was in all likelihood actually the movement fluids within the dead man’s body. While not a common occurrence, it does on occasion take place, and could give the impression of a heartbeat.
