Leon Wins Runoff, Becomes New Mayor Of Yerushalayim

Moshe Leon has been declared the winner of the runnoff election between and Hitorerut candidate, Ofir Berkovitch.

Initially, Ofer Berkovitch led by as much as nine percent over Leon, but after the majority of the ballots were counted the gap narrowed and Leon led by about 6,000 votes.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Tuesday night spoke on the phone with the winners and congratulated them on their victory in the municipal elections.

Prime Minister Netanyahu told the mayors that he would be happy to work with them in close cooperation to strengthen the cities and work for the residents.

  1. Leon was voted because he’s religious. He better behave like a religious Jews and stop the Shabbos desecration in Yerushalayim and other anti-Torah blasphemes.

  2. Iyh we can have a positive outcome for all “chareidim ledvar Hashem” if this election convinces everyone of the importance of voting.

    • I don’t know which Gedolei Hador you’re talking about but many Gedolei Hador said not to vote for him because of his anti-Torah positions, like chillul Shabbos, pro Reform, etc.

  3. Iyh we can have a positive outcome for all “chareidim ledvar Hashem”, including Chasidim, if this election convinces everyone of the importance of voting. Then in the future with everyone united as everyone agrees is best, we will have the strongest Torah coalition. This election proved the facts on the ground but everyone will be pleased in the future if it causes more Chasidim to vote. Here in the USA as well… Even better hopefully we can soon merit to have malchus Hashem back…
