  1. After reading some of of the comments that readers have left in response to this tragedy, the one that spoke to me most was the comment that someone left asking “why is it only through a tzarah that we see all of klal yisroel joining together b’achdus”? Why do we need a tzara to bring that out? What is holding us back from being b’achdus in good times?
There is a famous medrash that speaks about the time right before Yaakov Avinu’s death, when he wanted to be megaleh the keitz to his children, but the shechina departed right then and he couldn’t reveal to his children when moshiach will come. However, the lashon hapasuk over there is “hi’asfu v’agidah lachem… B’achris hayamim”, hence by using the lashon of “v’agidah”, which is a loshon of achdus, Yaakov Avinu was hinting to us in what zechus we will be zoche to the redemption- only when are b’achdus.
It is time to respect and love all sects of Klal Yisroel, including Modern Orthodox, Lubavitch, Satmar, Litvaks, Sefardim and anyone else that I haven’t mentioned… Let’s do our part on working on our ahavas yisroel and then we won’t have to go through a tisha b’av this year anymore!

  2. May Rabbi Bauman z”l be a meilitz yosher for all of Am Yisrael. May his family have a nechama. May we all be zocheh to greet Moshiach bimhayra b’yamaynu.
Umecha Hashem dimah me’al kol panim.
