After resigning from his position as defense minister and leaving the government, Avigdor Lieberman is again causing controversy, this time for refusing to be seated next to an Arab MK.
When Lieberman left Netanyahu’s coalition with his Yisrael Beiteinu party in tow it followed that he would be placed in the ranks of the opposition in Knesset.
However, when Lieberman realized that from now on he was supposed to sit next to the chairman of the joint Arab list, MK Ayman Odeh, he sent MK Sofa Landver to take his spot instead.
The seat switch caused some in the Knesset to and accuse Lieberman of racism. MK Stav Shafir has since appealed to Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein to complain about the matter and defined Lieberman’s move as “blatant and dangerous racism.”
