i24 News – Israel’s Finance Minister Avigdor Lieberman stated that the relatively modest size of his secular nationalist Yisrael Beitenu party need not prevent him from becoming a prime minister after the November election.

The game changer for Lieberman, a veteran right-winger and former advisor to Bibi Netanyahu, was the installation of Naftali Bennett as the head of Israeli government with a mere seven Knesset seats, even though Bennett’s tenure was cut short last week after only a year.

“Bennett blurred the lines, I can now see myself as a candidate for prime minister,” Lieberman told Israel’s Channel 12. “If before I assumed that you need at least 20 seats to become prime minister, Bennett proved otherwise, which is why I believe that everything is possible. As to seniority, ability, knowledge and execution I’m confident as to how I stack up against any other candidate,” he added.

On Thursday Israel headed for its fifth general election in under four years after lawmakers voted to dissolve the Knesset. Foreign Minister Yair Lapid took over as caretaker prime minister.

Netanyahu, the current opposition leader and former prime minister, vowed that he and his allies will finally rally a majority, following what he described as a “failed (coalition) experiment”.

  1. And you no longer need the majority or even anyone to vote for you to become Prime Minister of Israel. It has become a self-appointed position just like the supreme court in Israel.

  2. It’s all a show which will end very soon. While the original real Presidents of the whole world were replaced with clones, doubles or mask wearers for the live movie (e.g. Biden, BJ), Israel’s PM was replaced with a real person who was willing to temporarily take over until October when Blockchain Elections will go into effect globally. (Like when a teacher leaves a student to take over temporarily.) Hence, no need to waste money on elections.

    • World leaders who are no longer with us (which is most of them) were dealt with for their heinous crimes against children. Leaders involved in 9/11 were also dealt with. Do your own investigation who belongs to which group?

  3. It’s not just Lieberman, The leaders of Labor, Meretz, Raam, Blue& White and New Hope are all thinking the same thing and it’s not just the leaders of the parties that can demand a turn at the premiership, every Knesset member who’s vote is needed to maintain the coalition ‘s majority can demand a turn as prime minister. Bennet’s unprecedented political greed opened the door for future political chaos. In the future, it will be prime minister for a day.
