Avi what makes someone rich? Most people who are driving high end cars, and going on multiple vacations pay 6,7,8k. I have always paid full tuition. I am actually subsidizing the fancy cars and vacations of others.
At least seminary is only one year with no government funding , like BMG gets a lot of money for students in addition to the tuition that they charge. Seminaries have a lot more expenses.
I looked at it similar to this answer from R’ Dovid, which is that the wives of the teachers and their children are learning in Kollel and we are supporting these kollel families with the $30k tuition. Noone forces anyone to send their daughters to a year of touring and growing, its a choice.
The numbers don’t add up. He claims that the tuition money is being used to pay the yungeleit, yet until recently they were paying the yungeleit less than $5,000 a year. On the other hand the tuition is $20,000. And what about the student aid money the yeshiva gets from the government?
BMG is not tough about tuition at all so the question doesn’t really start.
The chesbon of Rav Dovid Schustal was true twenty years ago but I question if he would still say it today.
If 90% of the kollel yungerliet in BMG picked themselves up and moved to Australia would the typical bocher coming to BMG look to learn elsewhere because of that ?

Only rich people pay the 20k and for them its not alot of money 6,7,8k is what normal people pay

Tuition is up everywhere. 20k is pretty average for dorming Yeshivas for this coming year.
The bigger question is why BMG charges that much if they collect PEL and FAFSA and so many other mega grants that many other Mosdos don’t get.

YB: FAFSA is not a funding source. It is a collection of data to see if a person deserves PELL and TAP.
Pell and other similar items are not grants to the school. They are grants to students who use it to pay tuition. Many are not eligible for Pell.
