Listen: Sanz-Klausenburger Rebbe: Those Who Don’t Follow Proper COVID-19 Guidelines Are Rotzchim

The rebbe of Sanz-Klausenburg of Boro Park, Brooklyn, came out very strongly against those people who do not follow guidelines designed to guard against the coronavirus that has plagued many communities.

In a special shmuess given to his chassidim, the rebbe said that a person is not the owner of his body and has no permission to harm himself.

“Suddenly, they became righteous …,” the rebbe said, wondering: “In other things, are they so righteous, too? The Torah is very cautious on the subject of one’s health…”

The rebbe pointed out that tefillah betzibbur is certainly an important thing, but “it is only when the situation allows for it.” He pleaded, “Have mercy on yourself and your family. See how many Jews have died. Have mercy on your mother and father. Who wants to be a murderer, even inadvertently?” the rebbe asked painfully.

“I know,” he said, “that there will be those who say I’m paranoid, but to them I say: ‘It is better to be a shoteh all your life than to do one act of evil all your life.’ After all, halacha suspends the laws of Shabbos for the benefit of a patient, even if it is only for the benefit of an hour of life, that is, even if he lives for only another 10 minutes, and here people allow themselves to underestimate the value of people’s lives? ”

The rebbe then explained that at first, when the medical establishment still did not know the severity of the virus, it was possible to understand those who insisted on not obeying the instructions, but now, everyone already sees the dire consequences and thus must be very guarded and go out into the street only for a really vital need, and of course with proper protection while maintaining maximum hygiene.

He concluded, “One should do whatever he can to protect himself and not listen to all the fools, the fools who are immersing in mikvaos – those are real rotzchim (murderers)!”

  1. Finally a leader explained it in plain simple talk! Will our people understand the gravity of this horrible virus and its ability to kill people?;I sure hope so! I’m not a betting guy but if I was, I wouldn’t bet on this one!
“If that guy died, my heart goes out to him and his family, but I didn’t die! So why get concerned!”

  2. From the newly available data, it is becoming evident that the death rate for this virus is not 4% as previously reported by the lying Chinese Communist government, but less than 0.5%. In other words not much greater than a death rate during a nasty flu season. Are we supposed to shut down shuls every flu season from now on?! A rhetorical question.
More importantly, all these demented quarantines of healthy people, do not stop a single death, just make it happen a month or two later. The only life-saving maximization strategy is to strictly(key word here) isolate the vulnerable, while healthy people are free to get infected/recover/acquire immunity in major numbers. Anecdotal reports of up to 2% of population supposedly not developing the immunity are irrelevant, as even if true we can simply have 71.43% get infected and recover to produce the desired 70% immunity. Then, once over 70% of the overall population are immune, the virus has very few vectors to bounce in between, and consequently becomes much less contagious. That’s when the vulnerable can come out into the world. There could still be minor local infection outbreaks here and there, but this strategy would save the majority of the vulnerable population, and reduce the death rate by perhaps a factor of 10.
Unfortunately, it’s too late to “blunt force” eradicate covid19 at this point. Maybe back in November 2019 there was such a possibility, but the Communists and WHO covered up and lied, so at this stage we have what we have. Vaccine is scheduled to come out in a year from now, and even then a new virus mutation can wipe out its usefulness. So it seems that achieving 70% herd immunity through infecting the healthy non-vulnerable people is the only strategy to save the maximum number of lives.
