Police in north London are looking for a suspect seen on security cameras smearing an unknown substance on two shuls and on a walkway regularly used by mispallelim in Golders Green.
The incidents, which happened last Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday, are being treated by the Metropolitan Police as religiously motivated acts of vandalism. Reports have indicated that the material involved was excrement.
Det Supt Tony Bellis condemned the behavior, saying: “This is a revolting and appalling act and we are urging the public to help us locate those responsible as soon as possible.”
CCTV footage of the offenses was collected by Shomrim, a volunteer neighborhood patrol organization that monitors Jewish areas in north-east London, and passed on to investigators.
A representative for Shomrim NW described the attacks as “a deliberate and disgraceful anti-Semitic act targeting places of worship and members of our community.”
The spokesperson continued: “It is utterly disgusting, and those responsible must be caught and brought to justice. Nobody should have to face such hatred when going to pray or at their own home.”

Despite the recent defacements of London Synagogues and a steady stream of attacks targeting Jewish residents of the UK, Gershon Zingerman, a resident of London, insists that “Anti Semitism is a thing of the past!”
“The days of brutal pogroms targeting Jews are over with,” said Mr. Zingerman, who is currently sporting a swollen black eye after a group of hoodlums screaming “Heil Hitler” viciously assaulted him on Sunday as he was taking a leisurely stroll near his home.
“Antisemitism is not a part of the modern era,” Mr. Zingerman insisted, as a group of passengers rolled down their the car windows and hurled dozens of giant-sized objects at him while hollering, “Hitler didn’t finish the job; but we will!”
Mr. Zingerman added in a confident tone: “Let’s face it, society has progressed; we are no longer living in the 1930’s or the medieval era!”
“Jews will never have to live in fear again like they did in previous generations,” Mr. Zingerman added calmly and assuredly while ducking and hitting the deck to avoid being struck by a stream of mammoth-sized projectiles.
