French President Emmanuel Macron was unexpectedly delayed at the United Nations headquarters in New York when security measures for President Donald Trump’s motorcade prevented him from leaving the building. The incident forced Macron to place an impromptu call to Trump.
The French leader had been trying to get to his country’s diplomatic mission in New York after giving his speech at the UN on Monday evening when the motorcade lockdown disrupted his travel.
“How are you?” Macron said during the call to Trump’s personal phone. “Guess what? I’m waiting in the street because everything is frozen for you!”
