Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) on Monday said that former President Trump’s return to office would feed into the “national malady of denial, deceit, and distrust” that the senator said President Biden has not been able to break through, The Hill reports.

In an opinion piece published in The Atlantic, Romney said that many Americans on both sides of the aisle are continuing to dismiss various threats against the country, including inflation, global climate change, illegal immigration and water insecurity in the West. He cited the reactions of “MAGA loyalists” to the recent congressional hearings on the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol as another such example of Americans’ denial.

“If we continue to ignore the real threats we face, America will inevitably suffer serious consequences,” Romney wrote.

The Republican senator called Biden a “genuinely good man,” though he said the president has not been able to resolve the nation’s dismissal of serious issues, then warned that the possible return of Trump could inflate that denial beyond repair.

“President Joe Biden is a genuinely good man, but he has yet been unable to break through our national malady of denial, deceit, and distrust,” Romney wrote. “A return of Donald Trump would feed the sickness, probably rendering it incurable.”

  1. Mitt is right. We must have Biden until 2028 and then Harris until 2036. In this way we can keep America as a racist free country.

  2. The current POTUS Trump will be back officially after the Supreme Court will publicize the crimes of the original Biden who will “officially” be removed from office. In the meantime, Australian paper (The Sun, I think it was) reported that it’s exactly what the SC reported this week but it’s not out in the US media yet.

  3. “President Joe Biden is a genuinely good man, but he has yet been unable to break through our national malady of denial, deceit, and distrust,”

It’s not like he ever tried to…

He cited the reactions of “MAGA loyalists” to the recent congressional hearings on the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol as another such example of Americans’ denial.

Right. The thought police get furious when you question the congressional hearings about Jan. 6. Please don’t do that. It is more than they can handle.

  4. President Biden is not a “good man”. He’s a career politician who has a whiff of dishonesty following him around, from his plagiarism scandal in 1988 to the more recent shenanigans involving his son Hunter.
He’s also an incompetent, bumbling, stumbling, fumbling president.
As far as what Romney said about Trump, I agree. Trump made acceptable the denial of facts if you don’t like them. Don’t care for reality? Call it “Fake News” and/or present “Alternate Facts”.

    • If only Biden’s crimes were his dishonesty. He’s part of the Swamp that has been drained a few years. Hence, actors playing his part. Plenty of proof has been posted here that “President Biden” is an actor.

  5. Wow. (This is not a criticism of the site, of course, as they are just reporting.)
This has to be the highest sheker amount, per word-count, of any article that I can recall reading here or elsewhere.

  6. What’s so “Madd” about Mitt? The question as to who actually dug the grave for America and who shoveled the dirt on top, Trump or Biden, is totally irrelevant – neither is qualified for office

  7. Mitt begged Trump to endorse him vs Obama , then begged him for the Sect. of State job when Trump won. Then stabbed him afterwards. Mitt’s a bitter RINO.
