With interviews moving onto the Zoom platform, PCS Placement directors share tips for making the most of your zoom interview:

-It is best to have a practice run with a friend, to ensure that everything is set up to run 100 percent smoothly. He should ensure that you clear. Make sure you have a good webcam.

-Make sure you have enough bandwidth-internet speed to ensure that zoom can work well, without freezing in middle. This is a very common issue that you want to take care of before the interview.

-Practice using the features so that you know how to use the microphone/ volume feature. Practice different positions so that your face is not cut off.

-Clear the area of distractions. Ensure that no children come into the room, and there should be no background noises from your household.

-Ensure that the lighting is good. For best results, the light should be in front of you, not behind you.

-Stay still and do not move around during the interview and do not fidget in your chair. otherwise you will look blurry.

-Organize yourself in advance. Background should be neat and professional. Best is to use a clean study, and clear of the desk. Do not use Zoom backgrounds, it often is not clear.

-Dress for the occasion, even though you are not meeting in person. You should be very well groomed, in professional attire.

-Prepare answers to common interview questions, specifically challenging questions (such as gaps on your resume) that may come up. Avoid speaking negatively about your current or past employers or co-workers.

-Meeting remotely is more challenging, but still pay attention to your body language. Sit up straight, make eye-contact, nod and respond when the interviewer is talking to show that you understand and are paying attention.

-Your answers should be to-the-point and succinct. Don’t ramble on. Don’t give into the urge to talk merely to break the silence. Pay attention and do not talk for more than two minutes in response to any question.

-At the end of the interview, thank the interviewer, and most importantly follow up with a thank you email.
