Ron Watkins, who along with his father facilitated the rise of the QAnon conspiracy theory, announced plans to run for Congress.

On Thursday, Watkins filed a statement of interest with the Arizona secretary of state expressing a desire to run for the state’s 1st Congressional District, the first step toward running for public office. He later released a clip on Telegram of himself sitting in front of the secretary of state’s office chastising incumbent Rep. Tom O’Halleran, a Democrat, as “Tom O’Hooligan.”

Some suspect Watkins of being the man behind Q, the anonymous leader of the QAnon movement. QAnon is a conspiracy that claims that a collective of Democratic pedophiles is actively undermining the United States, a phenomenon that Trump was purportedly working to reverse. Watkins denied being the movement’s leader.

  1. Ron Watkins is not Q and has never claimed to be. Anyone who knows anything about Q knows Ron Watkins is not Q. He hosted Q on his chat boards. This statement is so ridiculous. It’s like saying Twitter is the president because they host the presidents account.
