amusement-parkSadly, this story is not from The Onion.

A New Hampshire man is calling foul after he blew $2,600-reportedly his life savings-on a carnival game. Determined to win an Xbox Kinect for his kids, Henry Gribbohm, 30, got carried away playing “Tubs of Fun” at a New Hampshire-based fair, where he emptied his bank account and walked away with nothing but a giant stuffed banana with dreadlocks.

“They explained to me I was going to get all my money back,” Gribbohm told local reporters. “I was going to get an Xbox Kinect … They lied to me.” Gribbohm has since filed a police report for fraud. “For once in my life I happened to become that sucker,” he said.

Apparently, he didn’t get the memo that carny games were created for suckers like him. Ouch. Read it at CBS.

  1. happened to me once at coney island. there was some big prize for a game that I had to keep paying to continue scoring to win. I was promised that I would get all the money back when I win. it’s all psychological. most people back out around twenty forty dollars and the game owner keeps the money.

  2. What is the relevance of this stupid made up story of this waste of a human life? Matzav has stuped to a new low. Slow news day?

  3. He could have bought it… What was he thinking? He would get his money back? Which carnival gives the money back???

  4. I once played that game knocking out the golf tee at coney island. I played for $1 when he tried to get me to play $2 for a second play I walked away. I saw a poor chasidish woman losing hundreds later that day I felt terrible for her I cant get over it. I watched the guy carefully. To get you to play on at first he just leaves the tee between the 3 golf balls. on later plays there is a hole in the tabletop that wedges the tee in so you can’t possibly knock it out. The guy is a thieving con artist. Plain and simple. As long as it was the regular carnival type game a buck for a chance to win a stuffed worm the odds in favor of the vendor its fair fun and games. When they start roping you in to rip you off walk away… If it sounds to good to be true it is. I want my $1 back from that thief but I wonder how many people lost their pants to that con artist.
