Manslaughter Charges For Driver In Crash The Killed Yisroel Levin Z”L and Elisheva Kaplan A”H

Manslaughter charges have been made against one of the drivers involved in the crash that took the lives of Yisroel Levin z”l and Elisheva Kaplan a”h.

Previously charged with a DWI, Rahmel Watkins, 35, of Quincy Street, faced arraignment on the upgraded manslaughter charges Monday in First District Court in Hempstead, Nassau County police said.

According to detectives, five cars, with nine total occupants, were involved in the crash at about 1:40 a.m. on the Nassau Expressway between Burnside Avenue and Peninsula Boulevard.

Another driver, 25-year-old Zakiyyah Steward has been charged with driving while ability impaired by the combined influence of drugs and alcohol and any drug or drugs, driving while ability impaired by drugs, DWI and unlawful possession of marijuana. Steward, who is due back in court on Friday, also pleaded not guilty to all charges.

    I would say 2nd degree murder makes much more sense. This is not a first time offender. And has been arrested for DUI and other stuff. With Manslaughter she’ll be out again and be able to cause more devastation to people around her.
