A pair of pants that belonged to Maran Hagaon Rav Chaim Kanievsky zt”l were put up for auction before being swiftly taken down.

The auction was set to launch March 1, with the opening bid set at $3,200.

“Pants that belonged to…Rav Chaim Kaniesvky…and worn by him for a long time,” the auction listing read.

The authenticity of the pants was confirmed by the family, specifically a grandson, R’ Gedaliah Honigsberg, but Prime Judaica—the Lakewood auction house selling the pants—pulled the item, ostensibly due to flack received from those who felt that the auction was a bizayon to the gadol hador.
