Dear Editor,

We are writing this letter with heavy hearts, deeply torn between our gratitude for all that President Trump has done for us and Eretz Yisroel, and the undeniable frustration and anguish that we feel over the handling of the hostage situation. We have long admired his unwavering support and the numerous ways he has championed the cause of the Jewish people, but when it comes to the issue of the hostages in Gaza, he has failed us. It’s as simple as that.

The hostages are trickling out, one by one, or three by three, each release coming with heartbreaking signs of abuse. They are tortured, starved, and emaciated beyond recognition. The suffering is unbearable, and yet, despite all the promises, there are still so many hostages left behind, still trapped in the hands of terrorists.

This is a nightmare that seems endless, and it’s becoming more and more difficult to understand why there is no comprehensive plan in place to bring them all home – TODAY.

We are expected to give up thousands of terrorists, to hand over dangerous animals who will surely continue to pose a threat to our safety, all in exchange for the return of our loved ones. This is absurd. This is a disgrace.

And with all we’ve given up, WHERE ARE ALL OUR HOSTAGES?

President Trump, you made a promise. You said that if the hostages were not released by the time of your inauguration, “all hell would break loose.” Well, they are still not all out. Where is the action? Where is the follow-through on your word? We, the families, the citizens, and the people who have stood by you through thick and thin, are now asking: Where is the justice for our hostages?

ENOUGH!

This situation is not just a political failure. it is a moral failure. The lives of our loved ones  – because Klal Yisroel is all one family – are at stake, and we cannot simply sit idly by while their torment continues. We cannot take it anymore. We cannot watch as these hostages continue to suffer. The world watches as if nothing can be done. Hamas makes demands and plays games as if they are a legitimate entity. THEY ARE TERRORISTS!

President Trump, you have failed us. We admire you, we appreciate you, but you have absolutely failed us, as so many hostages are still in Gaza. You became president on January 20th. Today is February 9th.

This is unacceptable.

Please, for the sake of the families who are suffering, for the sake of all those who are still trapped, we demand more.

The hostages cannot wait any longer. We need action – now, today.

Please don’t let this charade go on any longer.

Sincerely,
Chaim and Chava Weisberg

Jerusalem, Israel

  1. Besides complaining (we all feel the pain), what precisely do you want the President to do which won’t put the remaining hostages at risk?

  2. I don’t disagree with your sentiments about the terrorism and need for hostages to come home at all costs. But …are you serious? How can someone who lives in e”y and knows hamas close up think anyone can *make* them do anything? If you push too hard there’s no doubt what they will do ch”v with the remaining hostages. You can’t even get the red cross to locate them and you think witholding a lolipop will make them send them home? I’m always baffled when people think there is a human component to hamas and their ilk, failing to understand this hostage holding is the totality of their control over those who have human souls and their ultimate tool of terrorism and self preservation.

  3. This sounds like a cry of pain rather than a thought out claim.
Trump is the closest thing to a real friend that we have, don’t berate him for not helping us fast enough.
He’s not the president of Israel and he can easily avoid the whole situation and say “not my problem”.

  4. If every time the word Trump appears in this rant, you replaced it with Hashem, at least it would make sense, because Hashem has the power to do it all. But Trump is just flesh and blood, who flexes muscle and hopes they will listen, but controls nothing. We all were crying last night seeing the state of the 3 men that were released over Shabbos, but Trump is not in control, and G-d cannot be blamed. All we can do is daven harder.

  5. To Mr and Mrs whatever your name is if it is that name anyway or if you’re just someone else who gets paid to write things here,

I’m not so sure what you were expecting. Were you expecting the same thing that you got under the JaBiden administraton? NOTHING WITH NOTHING?

No one likes to see them trickling out the way they are, but I don’t think it was really much of another option. The news is already trickling out that Hamas may have been ready to give up everything and just give the hostages back but JaBiden YMSH gave them a ton of money so they were able to hang out longer.

The bottom line is neither you know or I have any real idea of what’s going on. We can only presume however, we all know that there are certain news reports that we can’t listen to.

  6. Very shallow thinking. No one can just “get them out” other than the almighty. The “all hell break loose” threat is worthless when dealing with suicidal killers. Come on. Just use your brain a little.

  7. Where were you when Biden was president? He did nothing to help them, yet you were silent! At least President Trump is doing something, more than your own government has done in 15 months. If you have a better plan, let’s hear it. Meanwhile, at least the hostages are coming out, albeit slowly.

  8. Politics and statesmanship are a complicated business. Try to understand how the world ACTUALLY works, not how you think or would hope it works.

  9. There is something that could have and should have been done. But you have a government that’s weak. Had there ben death penalties for Terrorists there would only be low level terrorist to exchange. Every Arab country including the PA carries out death penalties. Had Israel not supplied any food, water, fuel internet, media and medicine then all the gazans would riot and loot the hamas. You bomb from a distance with tanks and planes. No room to room fighting where so many israeli soldiers get killed.

  10. Your pain is our pain, but your prayers need to be directed to where they belong, to Hashem. אל תבטחו בנדיבים… Trump is not a god. He certainly means well, and has done so much more than anyone has a right to expect, but the pain we all feel at what has been going on for 16 months even as we learn how bad it really has been needs to translate into storming the heavens for רחמים, certainly not blaming Trump.

  11. Going forward, the strategy has to be preventing hostage-taking—by crushing Muslim terrorism. Once taken, and traded for ceasefires and hordes of murderers, the hostages are a war tool of the Muslims, and their recovery can conflict with urgent military operations that save many lives.

  12. I’m not surprised. One has to be really naive to believe he cares about the hostages. He is a businessman and a ruthless one at that. If he sees a real estate opportunity, he’ll jump. Even at the cost of innocent lives. Way before the election, his son in law, suggested building a resort city in Gaza. As they say, money talks.

  13. Without Trump replacing the blathering, prevaricating, wishy washy, vote seeking Biden, we wouldn’t have this either. You should be thanking him not complaining. You’re like the people complaining eggs are still expensive and he promised to bring prices down. Nothing happens in a day and in the less than 30 days he has been in office he has accomplished more to fix 4 years of disaster than is humanly possible. Beg forgiveness, retract your complaint. Trump is not Moshe with a direct line to Hashem.

  14. Look at you, yelling at a stone. Telling the Stone to stop the Stick.

Your first and last course of address should be the Rebono Shel Olam.
