Matzav Inbox: This Hostage Deal is an Utter Travesty

Dear Matzav Inbox,

It is an utter travesty that Israel, the only democratic nation in the Middle East, finds itself cornered into negotiating with Hamas, a brutal and barbaric terrorist organization, in order to secure the release of hostages it holds. The deal currently being discussed, which involves Israel halting its military operations in exchange for the release of hostages, is nothing short of a disgrace.

Releasing thousands of terrorists, including convicted murderers and those responsible for the deaths of countless innocents, is a decision that will come back to haunt Israel. The message this sends to the world is abhorrent: that the lives of our citizens can be traded for the freedom of those who wish to destroy us.

Releasing these terrorists will not lead to peace; it will embolden those who continue to plot against us. Israel has already made the fatal mistake of releasing terrorists in the past, only to watch as they return to the battlefield, killing more of our brothers and sisters.

This deal will only set the stage for more violence, more bloodshed, and more loss of life.

Equally troubling is the fact that Israel is being forced to halt its fight against Hamas. This is a terrorist organization that has massacred over 1,200 Israelis and taken over 250 hostages. Now, Israel is being asked to stop the very military campaign that aims to eradicate this evil in exchange for a handful of hostages.

Hamas is not a legitimate political entity—it is a terrorist group that thrives on violence and hatred. The idea that Israel must stop its efforts to dismantle Hamas in order to secure the return of its citizens is not only misguided but perilous. It will embolden Hamas, allowing it to regroup, reorganize, and continue its mission to annihilate the Jewish state.

This is not a negotiation. It is an extortion attempt.

Hamas is holding innocent lives hostage, and Israel is being forced to appease them in the most tragic way possible. Negotiating with terrorists is never a victory—it is a surrender to terror, and a failure to protect the very principles that Israel stands for. Israel should not be forced to negotiate with those who have committed unspeakable atrocities against its people.

The consequences of this deal are catastrophic. By releasing terrorists, halting its military campaign, and negotiating with a terrorist organization, Israel will set a dangerous precedent. It will show that terror works—that when innocent lives are held hostage, the state will be forced to give in. The ramifications of such a move will be felt for generations.

I don’t know who to blame here. Biden? Trump? Bibi? Someone else? The hostage families? Whoever it is should be ashamed.

Israel’s obligation is to protect its people, not to negotiate with those who seek to destroy it.

This deal is a terrible idea, and the government must reject it outright. The fight against Hamas must continue until they are defeated once and for all, and no deals should be made that compromise Israel’s security or its moral standing in the world.

Sincerely,
Seeing with Clarity

  1. Blame the hostage families? Are you for real? This is not called for. We pray that Hashem knows what is best for us. It’s sad you didnt mention that.

    • Yes, blame the families. Because Shalit put his son’s welfare above the security of the state of Israel, we had 10/7. Now, because these families put their issue above the good of the entire State, we will have many more dead Jews (r’l)

  2. Of course the deal is a tragedy. But Israel put itself in this position by allowing the hostage families to hijack the military and political agenda.

  3. The gedolim are backing this deal. Since when do we know more than them? Also, Israel is being forces because of their citizens who are captured. That is called leverage. It’s a reality. Israel was unable to free them. Why blame others when this is the real truth. hamas has leverage and this forces Israel’s hand.

  4. Its not supposed to be a peace deal. Its a temporary deal so Trump won’t have to rain gehenam on them right away. Because honestly theres no real method that by blasting them they will release anyone, theyll just kill them. They have to hit the head of the snake Iran, and just placate these animals in the meantime.

    • Daas Torah supports any deal that would bring back hostages. Daas Torah did not specifically choose this deal over another, therefore, whilst we all respect Daas Torah and won’t challenge it, it’s certainly not Assur to discus the negative impact this deal will have on Israeli security going forward.

Oh, and by the way, there has never been an Issur to question something the Charedi parties support…

    • I seriously doubt the גדולים support the deal for the simple reason that they don’t have any media access and t.h.e.y.r.e. n.o.t. נ.ב.י.א.י.ם. Of course they’re not making any willful mistakes but they don’t have the information. Sorry, but it’s something we have to understand.

  5. Make any deal you can, get back as many hostages as you can, then go back into Gaza and kill every single terrorist that was given back over. The “world” will scream like they always do, and things will quiet down soon after that.
